When developing your vocabulary you should a dictionary to define unfamiliar word. Finding a definition helps you discover different word usage and a better understanding of a word. To understand new vocabulary you should look for context clues and well as word part analysis. Word part analysis consists of prefix, root, and suffix. To help remember new word you can use different tools like: word maps and the card review system (CRS). A denotation of a word is the dictionary definition. A connotation of a word is the ideas and association you have when you read a familiar word.
